Client Testing or Testing on Your Own Devices
Prepare Devices for Testing
This step is only necessary for testing the app before deployment.
At various points during the development process, you'll be able to test your app to see how it looks and functions. In order to do this, Pleasant Solutions will need to prepare the app so it will work on your testing device. If you already have a device you want to test with, (an iPod, iPhone, etc...) you will need to send the device's UDID to Pleasant Solutions so we can prepare the app to work on it.
Instructions on how to find your device's UDID can be found here: http://www.innerfence.com/howto/find-iphone-unique-device-identifier-udid.
However, for devices with ios below 7.0, if your device has access to download a free app from the App Store, you can follow these instructions:
- Open the App Store and search for Ad hoc Helper (the icon is black with the letters UDID on it).
- Download the app to your device and then open it by tapping the icon.
- You will be immediately presented with what looks like a "compose email" screen. All you need to do is fill in our email in the "To:" field, and the app will send us your UDID automatically. We will provide you with an email address to send your UDID to.
For devices with ios 7.0+, Apple disallows apps from obtaining the device's UDID, so apps like Adhoc Helper won't work anymore. Instead there is a website here http://get.udid.io/ that we have used successfully. Otherwise, directly connecting the device and using itunes will be required.
